General Guidelines for Non-Union Film Crews in Wisconsin
This is not a contract.
Rates and charges should always be discussed
before hiring crew or renting equipment.
Daily Rate:
Crew members work daily on a 10 hour minimum. For crew members working locally and not driving production vehicles the day begins at call and ends when work is complete. For any crew member driving a production vehicle the day begins when the vehicle is picked up and ends when the vehicle is returned.
Overtime:
Overtime is based on 1/10th the daily rate. Time-and-one-half is charged after 10 hours, double-time after 14 hours and triple-time after 16 hours.
Turnaround:
If 10 hours rest is not allowed between wrap and call, double time will be charged until 10 hours have been reached.
Meals:
Hot meals should be provided 6 hours after the start of work and in 6 hour increments or a meal penalty will be charged. Meal breaks should be 1/2 hour long from the time the last crew member goes through the line. If meal breaks are less than 1/2 hour crew members will remain on the clock.
Meal Penalty:
$10.00 for the first half hour.
$12.50 for the second half hour.
$15.00 for the third half hour.
$20.00 for each half hour thereafter.
Cancellation:
When crew members are scheduled for work they should be given due notice by the employer if their job will be cancelled. If due notice is not given the employer will be charged full rate for the entire job.
Mileage:
The general mileage rate is the current IRS rate for non-local locations. Production vehicles mileage rates vary and are charged for all locations.
Travel:
Travel is charged at straight time for non-local locations.
Locations:
Non-local locations are locations one half hour or more from the crew member’s home base. Production is responsible for providing individual hotel rooms and meal allowance for locations outside of the workers home base that necessitate overnight stays.
Payments:
If production chooses to pay invoices instead of using a payroll service, checks should be issued at the end of work. If a previous business relationship has been established
payments are due in 30 days.
