Possible Shipping Regulations Threaten Film Industry
Proposed regulation PHMSA-06-25885 is a really boring read, but if implemented, will likely make it impossible to ship certain explosives vitally necessary for special effects."If this new regulation goes through, it will severely impact thousands of people in the motion picture and television industry," said Pam Stevens of De La Mare Engineering, an explosives manufacturer specializing in film special effects. De La Mare has been leading the charge of special effects technicians who feel that the current regulations are sufficient.
